    GyroAviation is an organisation run by dedicated Gyroplane aviators. We love all forms of Rotary aircraft but are particularly dedicated to Gyroplanes.
    The Gyroplane community is small but growing and is deemed the fastest growing Sports Aviation sector in many countries. In many ways, the community is held back by aircraft expense and availability of qualified Instructors, particularly in the UK. With recent changes in the UK CAA laws allowing for more Instructor training, training on Syndicated machines and the ability to rent/hire a Gyroplane, it wont be too long before Gyroplanes gain a level of recognition and following as General Aviation or Microlights already enjoy.
    GyroAviation is committed to playing their part by offering Flight Training, Trial Flights and Aircraft Rental. We also want to help fellow Gyroplane pilots and owners through free web services, including but not limited to Classifieds, facilitating Owner Pilots to rent out their Aircraft, facilitating Syndicates to advertise, promoting knowledge through online documents and links.

Gyroplane Rental

Since March 2013 the Civil Aviation Authority has opened up the market to allow Gyroplane’s to be made available for hire. Prior to this time, Gyroplane’s had to be privately owned or part of a syndicate in order to fly them. This meant substantial outlay on the part of a pilot, often upto £80,000 just for the machine and several thousand pounds per year insurance, licensing and maintenance. Naturally, many pilots just cannot afford to fly these aircraft after completion of their training.

The rules are still not as flexibile as General Aviation, for example, a rented Gyroplane must be rented through a club, the manufacturers must approve the aircraft case-by-case for rental and the insurers must allow it. Not a level playing field but at least a chance to bring Gyroplane’s into the rental arena, allowing more pilots to keep up with their Rotary flying experience.

GyroAviation has gone through the process and can offer it’s own aircraft for hire. We also encourage pilot owners to make available their aircraft through our booking system (we take no fee) to encourage the expansion and enjoyment of Rotary flight.

  • You need to be a registered pilot to view and make reservations for G-MAGN. Please login or register to view the reservation calendar.
    G-MAGN is located at Rufforth East Airfield, York.

    • Dry Rate £78.00 per HOBS hour. Discount available for frequent users.
    • Bookings are made in fixed 3 hour slots. Multiple bookings for a longer period are permissible.
    • You will be charged, after the rental, for the amount of time the engine is running as defined by the HOBS counter.
    • If you go over your alloted slot and deny another client their reserved time, you may be charged a penalty fee of 1 HOBS hour.
    • You must have type conversion with a minimum of 10 flying hours on an M24.
    • You must have flown an M24 within the last 90 days, otherwise a refresher flight with a QFI must be undertaken.
    • You must be a temporary or full member of York Flying Club.
    • Unless otherwise agreed, all flights will commence and return to Rufforth East Airfield.
    • All rentals subject to Insurance approval and a £2,500.00 returnable deposit.
    • Use of your own insurer is permissible, but we must have in writing from the insurer a declaration that they undertake all risks. In the event of an accident your insurer must guarantee our aircraft will be returned to us in original condition, expeditiously and without any charge.
